Napoli Piazza Cavour is about a 9-minute walk from the site. From here, you can connect to line 2 metros and regional trains. 

Napoli Centrale is a 20-minute walk away and is the main travel terminal. This is commonly used by long-distance travelers, and you can get to Napoli Sotterranea by taking a bus or catching the Metro line 1. 

The historic center is not very car-friendly, so this mode of transportation is not recommended. However, if you are traveling by car, the nearest parking spots are around 10 to 15 minutes away.

  • Rettifilo Garage offers a safe space with reasonable rates.
  • There are also parking spots right near Duomo metro station, Piazza Cavour, or Corso Umberto

  • The meeting point is Trieste e Trento Square, near Bar Gambrinus
  • If you’re traveling on line 6, get off at Chiaia. This is the closest stop, just a 5-minute walk to the Spanish Quarters Underground. 
  • If you’re traveling on line 1, you can get off at Toledo or Municipio stations, which are a 10-15 minute walk from the meeting point.

Pro tip: Right outside Municipio station is the Fountain of Neptune. Take some time to admire the central sculpture and water features.

Introduced in 1928, Naples' Funicular is an essential link for residents traveling to the city's hilltop districts. There are four lines connecting its Centro Storico to elevated neighborhoods:

  • Funicolare Centrale: Piazzetta Augusteo ↔ Piazza Fuga
  • Funicolare di Chiaia: Via del Parco Margherita ↔ Via Domenico Cimarosa
  • Funicolare di Montesanto: Piazza Montesanto ↔ Via Raffaele Morghen
  • Funicolare di Mergellina: Via Mergellina (waterfront) ↔ Via Manzoni

There are several reliable, safe, and cost-effective parking garages in the vicinity.

  • Garage Gradoni is just 53 meters away, less than a minute's walk.
  • Parcheggio Barbaro is just 56 meters away, also under a minute on foot.
  • If the first two options are full, Garage Parking Nardones is just 140 meters and 2 minutes away.  

Catacombs of San Gennaro

  • The main entrance is in the Madre del Buon Consiglio Basilica
  • The accessible entrance is at Vicoletto S. Gennaro dei Poveri, 22
  • Take Line 1 to the Materdei station, which is about a 20-minute walk to the Catacombs. 
  • From Materdei, you can also take bus lines 178, 168, 204, C63 to the Basilica Incoronata - Catacombe San Gennaro stop.
